Pepparkakor (Swedish Ginger Cookies)

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tablespoons grated orange peel
2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
1 tablespoons water
3 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cloves

1. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Add orange peel, corn syrup, and water. Mix well.
2. Sift together dry ingredients including spices,  stir into creamed mixture. Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
3. On lightly floured surface roll to 1/8 inch. Cut with your favorite shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
